Disney's Getting More Inclusive

Disney World is known as a safe haven for many in different communities. From being ability, neurodiverse, and size welcoming and accommodating, to their welcoming stance on the LGBTQIA+ community, and their recent changes to insensitive cultural depictions on rides and around the park. Disney is clearly trying to stay ahead of diversity and inclusion trends, and announced months ago they would be adding "inclusion" as their fifth pillar of customer service.

During the pandemic, Disney scaled back on a lot of things, including suspending their fireworks display at Disney World and Disneyland theme parks. Disney lovers were excited to learn that fireworks would be resuming as of July 1, 2021 as the parks slowly started going back to a sense of normalcy.

When Disney cast members arrived at a special screening of the all-new Happily Ever After fireworks display they were greeted a little differently. Instead of hearing the all too familiar "ladies and gentleman, boys and girls" intro, they heard "good evening, dreamers of all ages!"

Of course, some avid Disney fans, and just general anti-inclusion people, were upset by the change; but most people said they loved it! Not only is it a small change that takes nothing away from the experience, but it is also a small change that means the world to someone who doesn't identify as a lady, gentleman, boy, or girl.

If you need a little nostalgia, take a look at the 2021 fireworks below:

I think the change is great, but I want to know your thoughts. Let me know in the comments below.
